Axendit Powers Nigeria’s Move to Regulate Drones via New NCAA Portal

At Axendit, we believe in the use of technology to drive positive change. Our recent collaboration with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Portal reinforces that belief. It’s a project we’re particularly proud of as it sits at the intersection of innovation and regulation of a fast-growing industry.
The RPAS Portal was built to digitize and simplify the process of drone registration in Nigeria. Working closely with the NCAA, we designed and implemented a centralized platform that makes it easier to register drones, obtain licenses, and maintain proper regulatory oversight. As drone usage continues to grow across sectors, having a system like this is essential for keeping operations safe, organized, and compliant.
Building the platform was only the beginning; its true success depends on how widely it is understood and adopted. Hence, Axendit is leading a focused awareness and adoption effort to ensure that stakeholders across the country know about the portal and actively use it.
Our approach is simple but intentional. We’re encouraging drone operators to register and get licensed, while ensuring the public understands the portal's purpose and importance. Education plays a big role here. Many operators, especially newer or recreational users, may not fully understand the regulatory landscape. By breaking things down clearly, we are helping them navigate the process with confidence.
We are engaging a wide range of stakeholders because the drone ecosystem itself is diverse. Commercial operators in industries like oil and gas, media, agriculture, and land mapping are a major focus, given how critical drones have become to their work. We are also reaching government and security agencies, recreational users, importers, distributors, and training institutions. Each group interacts with drone technology differently, so our communication is tailored to meet them where they are.
The impact we expect goes beyond just numbers, although increased registrations and active users are a key indicator of success. More importantly, we want to see stronger compliance with NCAA regulations and a deeper understanding of what safe and responsible drone operation looks like. As more people come on board, the overall standard of operations improves and benefits everyone who shares the airspace.
From our perspective, this initiative also highlights the advantage of continuity. Because we developed the RPAS Portal ourselves, we have a deep understanding of how it works and what it can achieve. That allows us to support the NCAA not just as a technology provider, but as a partner in driving real adoption. Our strategy combines digital communication, stakeholder engagement, and practical education to make the process as seamless as possible.
For the NCAA, this means faster adoption and a more effective regulatory framework. For the industry, it means clearer processes and safer skies. And for Nigeria as a whole, it opens the door to a more structured and sustainable future for unmanned aviation.
For us at Axendit, the RPAS Portal is more than just a system; it’s a foundation for trust, safety, and growth in an evolving industry. Our mission is to ensure it doesn’t just exist, but delivers results for everyone it serves.
